F6222 Telecom Optical Fiber Identifier
|
 |
Product
Overview:
The Wilcom Model F6222 Telecom Optical Fiber Identifier is a rugged,
easy-to-use installation and maintenance instrument which identifies optical
fibers by detecting the optical signals being transmitted through a
singlemode fiber. By utilizing local detection technology (non-destructive
macro-bend detection), this units eliminates the need to open the fiber at
the splice point for identification; eliminating the probability of
interrupting service.
This Optical Fiber Identifiers detects low frequency tones at 270 Hz, 1000
Hz and 2000 Hz. When traffic is present on the fiber under test, an audible
tone can be heard as well as the traffic direction which is indicated by
LEDs illuminating on the probe.
During installations, maintenance, rerouting, or restorations it is often
necessary to isolate a specific fiber without disrupting service. A light
source such as Wilcom's Model FS1316 used in conjunction with the Optical
Fiber Identifiers can make the job a lot easier.
This Optical Fiber Identifier includes a carrying pouch containing three
easy to use field interchangeable adapter heads to accommodate; 900 µm
buffered fiber, ribbon or 250µm coated fiber and 3mm jacketed fiber.

F6230A Pen-style Visual Fault Locator
|
 |
Product
Overview:
The Model F6230A Pen-style Visual Fault Locator is a commonly known as a VFL.
The new product Model F6230A, is a pencil style VFL that features a
universal connector accepting any optical connector style with a 2.5mm
ferrule. It operates on a single 1.5V AA alkaline battery keeping the
overall size to a minimum while providing long battery life. The VFL output
is from a 650nm laser providing visibility to 5 km.
Unlike many VFLs today, the F6230A features a choice of continuous or
modulated output and a “low battery” indicator to alert the user when it is
time to change batteries. The universal connector eliminates the
inconvenience of having to use a patch cable for direct connection to fiber
under test if connector styles are dissimilar.
This single basic tool is one that all installers, and maintenance personnel
should have in their tool kit. It is the most economical test tool for
quickly verifying continuity, checking the validity of patch cables before
or after installation, test and find breaks in LANs, verifying short lengths
of installed fiber, or looking for cracked fiber in splice cases, bad
connectors, tight crimps in fiber cable, backbone breaks or anywhere light
continuity needs checking.

FR2 Optical Fault Locator
|
 |
Product Overview:
The Wilcom FR2 Optical Fault Locator is a rugged, lightweight, hand-held ,
easy-to-use optical fault locator for multimode and singlemode applications.
Using OTDR ( Optical Time Domain Reflectometer ) technology, the FR2 is
designed to pinpoint faults in optical cable, that can be over 20 kilometers
away, with amazing accuracy. The FR2 operates at the industry standard
wavelength of 1310nm, and can display the distance to the fault in meters or
feet.
Useful applications for the FR2 include testing: Wide Area Networks (WANs),
telecommunication spans of up to 20 kilometers, Fiber-to-the-Curb,
installation and maintenance of multimode and singlemode fiber cabling, and
Military systems. The FR2 is an excellent tool for locating faulty
connectors, end-of-fiber, and breaks in multimode and singlemode fiber
cable.
The FR2 has been designed with the user in mind with easy to use features.
It has a large easy to read LCD display, and a single measure push-button
for activating the unit's measure operation. The Index of Refraction (IOR)
is user selectable with a single push-button. The FR2 will display the
distance to an event (fault) in either feet or meters. The FR2 has the
ability to detect up to seven multiple events with the push of a single
button.

FiberRanger3
|
 |
Product Overview:
The Wilcom FiberRanger3 is a lightweight, handheld mini-OTDR
in a rugged enclosure that is impact-resistant and waterproof. The fast
easy-to-use Optical Time Domain Reflectometer with core functions required
to measure optical fiber from one end during installation, repair and
verification. This unit is ideal for field and maintenance of new or
existing fiber networks.
The mini-OTDR is very fast, producing a scan within one second of pressing
the scan button. It also features an easy to use Zoom function that enables
the user to observe the entire link, or zoom in on defects. This unit is
available in multimode or singlemode with single, dual, tri, or quad
wavelengths making it ideal for LAN, Metro or Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH)
applications.
Each unit is capable of measuring splice loss, link attenuation and
distance. The singlemode and or multimode output port(s) use high powered
pulsed lasers. The QVGA monochrome display provides a powerful yet simple
set of fiber parameters and control indications to view an entire fiber link
or zoom in and analyze a splicing point or a defect in the fiber. The display
shows fiber loss versus distance in its large central graph as well as
individual and dual cursor measurements, and important instrument parameters
such as Index of Refraction, pulse width, scanning speed, and a battery
gauge.
The FiberRanger3 is a full-function Certifying OTDR when used with the
Certification Software. View and store traces in the field, then download
traces to a PC for further analysis and printing of the certifying
documents.
